Enrico Caruso : Vesti la giubba : Original 1907 and 1999 issue with overdubbed stereo orchestra.

Vesti la giubba is from the opera I Pagliacci by Leoncavallo and this recording was made by Enrico Caruso in 1907. As a matter of interest his 1902 recording of this aria was the first ever to sell over one million copies.
I personally think that in the process of removing the old orchestra the natural beauty and tones of Caruso's voice have been ruined even though the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra does, of course,sound very impressive.
The voice is the most important thing and I think that it has a far more true to life sound in my new restoration of the original.
I suppose I'm only uploading this because it annoys me that people seem to be very impressed by the overdubbed versions and I wonder if they have really listened to the original at its best. I've put some comparison points below to click on to.
