India on alert as the new JN.1 Covid variant has emerged. Kerala is witnessing a rise in covid cases and deaths. A new coronavirus sub-variant, JN.1 has been detected.

The first case of JN.1 in India was confirmed in a 79-year-old woman from Kerala exhibiting mild symptoms. The active cases of JN.1 in India is over 1,800 as of Dec 18.
