10-24-2023 Washington State - Winter Storm Warning

A winter storm warning went into effect this afternoon in Washington state, the Mount Baker Ski area and part of the North Cascades and the central cascades are expected to get upwards of 15 inches of snow overnight. Currently Mount Baker ski area has 6 inches of snow as of 530pm. Snowfall rates currently are half inch of snow per hour with heavier bands in the mountains expected. Autumn colors were covered in snow quickly as the afternoon snow developed. Picture Lake had beautiful reflections of the trees and snow. It’s almost as someone flipped the light switch and we went right into winter mode. This is the first winter storm warning for the Pacific Northwest this fall. As the low pressure system continues to slide south colder air will pour into western Washington with most everyone seeing freezing temperatures for the first time this fall including Seattle.
