Weapon malfunction likely prevented mass casualties in Las Vegas Athletic Club shooting

Las Vegas Metro Police have identified the shooter in the Las Vegas Athletic Club incident as 34-year-old Daniel Ortega.

During a news conference, police revealed that Ortega fired 24 rounds inside the gym before being confronted by officers.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, according to investigators.

LVMPD reported that the initial emergency calls began just after 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
