Zero model 1265R single speed oscillating fan from the '60's
Here's a circa early '60's Zero model 1265R single speed oscillating fan. This fan was built by McGraw-Edison, Bersted Manufacturing Division; and, is what one might consider a cheap fan back in the '60's. These fans were sold under the Eskimo and Zero brands, as well as many store brands; and, kept the same basic design from the '50's until the early '70's. The later models used plastic blades and a safety guard over the blades.
Even though this fan was low end back when it was new, it is still better than today's Chinese junk.
This was an ebay purchase from a seller who didn't know how to pack an item; and, as a result, the cage and blades were damaged. I was able to straignten them out to some degree of normal; but, they are still no where near perfect. I also cleaned/lubricated the motor, as well as installed a new power cord. Unfortunately, the oscillator mechanism is still non-functional and I haven't quite figured out how to fix it. If I can't fix it, I'll just use it as a stationary fan.
Originally, these fans had no power switch. At some point in it's life, someone added an inline switch to the AC cord. I transplanted this switch over to the new power cord.
