Impending Disaster | Re:Zero Season 2 Episode 17 Review/Analysis

In the new episode of Re:Zero Emilia's memories are revealed and the trial shows her past from 100 years ago, featuring pre-insanity Betelgeuse, Mother Fortuna, and the Archbishop of Greed; Regulus Corneas. Meanwhile, the new OP [Long Shot] is nowhere to be found. Here's my review of Re:Zero Season 2 (Part 2) Episode 17, AKA Re:Zero Episode 42.

With cut content at an all-time low, Re:Zero Season 2 Episode 17 has been the most faithful adaptation to the light novel source material so far this season. Emilia's trial showed us what her life was like before the disaster occurred. She lived peacefully with her mother figure Fortuna, who was in love with "Geuse", a member of the Witch Cult. Emilia finds the Seal, which is a mysterious door hidden in the forest. Geuse and Fortuna find her, but they are interrupted by an uninvited guest; Regulus Corneas, Sin Archbishop of Greed. It looks like this episode was set-up for a fight, and we've already seen how dangerous Regulus can be. I think it's safe to say Elior Forest is f***ed. Chibi Dona was cool though.
