A pride of white lions is the latest acquisition of one of Caracas' most prominent zoos, in an attempt to breathe new life into the Caricuao Zoo with imported species to increase the number of visitors.
After years of sustained deterioration due to lack of sufficient funding, the zoo is accumulating achievements in an effort to regain its former splendor.
"I think it is good that they have brought more animals to the park, since very few people came because there were no more animals," said Neyeska Portillo, who came to the zoo with her daughter and grandchildren.
With the unique white lions and other local and exotic animals, Caricuao zoo administrators hope that the 630-hectare park will become an attractive place to visit.
