Opening ceremony of NATO summit in UK

(4 Dec 2019) The opening ceremony for the 29-nation trans-Atlantic NATO alliance took place in Watford on Wednesday, with differences between leaders over security issues being downplayed by Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
US President Donald Trump has previously criticised other members of the military alliance for being too slow to beef up their defence budgets.
Stoltenberg underscored on Wednesday that European members as well as Canada have "added 130 billion (US) dollars to their defence budgets."
He called the financial boost "unprecedented."
After a working session of a few hours on Wednesday, the leaders of the 29-nation trans-Atlantic alliance are due to publish a declaration underlining their commitment to NATO on its 70th birthday, and to show that the alliance is adapting to modern threats and potential new adversaries like China.
