FORD TAURUS SHORT CIRCUIT

So, today I had a 2005 Ford Taurus 3.0 brought into my shop. The owner of the vehicle thought the transmission was going out. So, he decided to take it to a transmission shop. They told him that the problem was electrical not mechanical. The instrument cluster has all of the warning lights illuminated. Including the check engine light, traction control light, abs light, battery charging light, and the brake light. The tachometer is dead and only reads zero. They recommended that he bring it my shop and have me take a look. Please join me as I try to locate the source of the problem.
