Todos Santos is pure magic.

This small artists’ community is located on Baja California Sur's Pacific coast, within easy reach of both Cabo San Lucas and La Paz, this off-the-beaten-path destination is chock full of exquisite dining, charming boutique hotels, antique architecture, and some of the best surfing you'll find in Mexico.

Basing myself out of the excellent Los Colibris Casitas boutique hotel overlooking the Pacific, I begin my tour of Todos Santos by trying my hand at surfing at Los Cerritos, a short 10 minute drive south of town. Here, you'll find some of Mexico's best surf, with the Mario Surf School ready to offer lessons to surfers of every level. Back in Todos Santos, I grabbed an excellent seafood lunch at Oystera before beginning a walking tour around Todos Santos to admire its extensive urban art and laid-back charm. En route, I made a stop at the famed Hotel California of Eagles' fame.

In the evening, I met up with Chef Iker Algorri for a full Mexican cooking class, where he shared his culinary philosophy of the Magnificence of Simplicity by teaching me how to prepare the perfect "Browngarita", homemade tortilla chips, guacamole, and "rajas de poblano".

My stay in Todos Santos was sheer perfection, and the perfect end to my time exploring the La Paz area. If you haven't yet been here, you haven’t yet lived.
