QSC’s Q-SYS UCI Page Navigation 101 — (Parts 3&4 of a 5-part series)
Programming a UCI's page navigation in QSC’s Q-SYS Designer…..with no code, low code, and full LUA UCI scripting.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Parts 3 & 4 of my Q‑SYS Audio Design 101 series, where we move beyond drag‑and‑drop audio blocks and dive into UCI page navigation and password page programming.
🔹 In Video 1, we built a full Q‑SYS audio system with the no‑code approach
🔹 In Video 2, we created a UCI to control those audio blocks
🔹 and in Parts 3 & 4 (today): We explore the 3 C’s — no‑code, low‑code, and full‑code approaches to program page navigation. We also throw in how to program a password page and its pin pad logic block.
In this tutorial, you’ll learn:
- How page navigation works in Q‑SYS UCIs (and why it’s really layer navigation)
- The difference between page flips vs. layer flips in Q‑SYS Designer
- Using interlocks to manage navigation buttons
- Why the Q‑SYS UCI Viewer handles layers better than pages
- We use a Step‑by‑step approach: drag‑and‑drop, block controller, and LUA scripting
Plus, stick around for the 8‑Bit retro twist — a quick history lesson on the origins of the graphical user interface (GUI), from Xerox PARC to Apple Macintosh to Microsoft Windows.
Whether you’re coming from Crestron programming or just starting out with Q‑SYS Designer, this video will help you master UCI design workflows and build smarter, more flexible AV system
Coming soon in the last part of the series, Part 5!
Creating Macro Functions using the 3 C’s — No Code, Low Code (Block Controller), and Full Code (LUA)
Subscribe and follow along as we build, configure, and code our way through Q-SYS — one byte at a time!
