Your gut microbiome constitutes the different microorganisms living in your large intestine and colon. It includes bacteria, fungi, archaea, and viruses.
Your microbiome is modulated by environmental factors such as your diet, the use of antibiotics, or in response to disease.
Your everyday actions can influence its composition positively or negatively, modulating many health aspects.
Studies are constantly demonstrating the link between our microbiome and numerous aspects of our health.
An unbalanced microbiome can cause inflammatory or metabolic diseases. Studies have shown that our microbiome plays a role in maintaining a healthy weight and provides our body with additional metabolic functions. So if you're wondering how to have a healthy gut, the best and easiest way is to eat gut healthy foods.
In this video, I give you a list of what to eat for a healthy gut.
First, you need to eat foods rich in fiber. You should also eat a lot of fruit and vegetables for gut health. Fermented foods for a healthy gut are also very important. Whole grains should also be on your list of top foods for gut health. Finally, foods rich in polyphenols also count as the best foods for a healthy microbiome.
