White-throated capuchin monkeys in Panama rainforest

What a treat to see these #GardenersoftheForest in the rainforest canopy in Panama, searching for insects and buds. They pollinate some plant species and then, by eating fruit and swallowing the seeds, plant the next generation of trees in their droppings the next day. When they eat buds of some trees, the tree responds by branching more just as a gardener does by pruning.
Notice the infant riding on the back of the female who descends the trunk, learning from Mum about the forest and how to get around in the treetops.
Research shows that tropical forests with primates and birds sequester and store more carbon than those where over-hunting has depleted animal numbers. Animals are our allies in the fight against #climatechange.
