How a Mummy Parade Through Egypt Hopes to Boost Tourism

During an elaborate parade Saturday, 22 mummies were moved from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Egyptian Museum of Civilisation in Fustat. The mummies, which include 18 kings and 4 queens, mainly belong to the New Kingdom and are up to 3,000 years old. "Now is the last time, we think, that the mummies are being moved, in 2021, so they can be seen in their full majesty, together with their grave goods," said Salima Ikram, Professor of Egyptology at Cairo’s American University.
