Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - Shades Of Blue (1967)
From the 1967 album Sounds Like, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass play the Julius Wechter composition Shades Of Blue. Drawing on the baroque-pop style popular at the time, Alpert's arrangement features himself on trumpet, as well as Lou Pagani on harpsichord, John Pisano on guitar and Julius Wechter on vibraphone. Wechter, the leader of The Baja Marimba Band and a regular Wrecking Crew session player, was not a Tijuana Brass member until the mid 70s. However, he played on all of Alpert's TJB albums, supplying the marimba and other mallet percussion sounds, and also contributing numerous compositions.
