Heinz Schachtner (1969) / James Last (1966) - Petersburger Schlittenfahrt

Two interesting instrumental versions of the composition Petersburger Schlittenfahrt (Sleigh Ride In St. Petersburg), written by German composer Richard Eilenberg (1848-1927). The first version is by trumpeter Heinz Schachtner, backed by Werner Twardy's orchestra, from the 1969 album Festliche Trompete in Gold. The second version is by James Last, who recorded it for a single in 1966. Last also recorded his album Christmas Dancing the same year, but Petersburger Schlittenfahrt didn't fit with the feel of the album, as it was arranged in a style more fitting for Last's Trumpet á gogo albums. Subsequent CD re-releases of the album have included the single in the track order.
