Roberto Delgado - La Bamba (1958)
Roberto Delgado (Horst Wende) plays his arrangement of the Mexican folk song La Bamba, recorded in 1958 for the album Along Mexican Highways, which was the first album Wende recorded under the pseudonym Roberto Delgado. The video includes shots of Wende taken in the 1950s, along with several of the musicians that he recorded and performed with regularly, including guitarist Ladi Geisler. It's interesting to see shots of Wende's Poly-Sextett, which appears to have been a kind of musical precursor to the Delgado orchestra, with apparent leanings towards Latin and world music within the context of a small dance ensemble.
