Wild Camping on a Scottish Island | Castle Ruins, Fishing & Tent Disaster

Hey Roamers! 🌍

This adventure took me to the wild coast of Kerrera, just off Oban, where the ruins of Gylen Castle still stand proudly on the cliffs. Built in the 1500s by the MacDougall clan, the castle has seen centuries of storms and battles, the perfect backdrop for a night of wild camping.

I explored the island’s rugged coastline, stumbled across an old shipwreck, visited a farm shop and tea house, and even tried my hand at fishing before setting up camp right beside the castle ruins. It was magical falling asleep next to such a piece of history… until things went wrong.

In the morning, the Scottish winds roared in, and I woke up to my tent collapsed on top of me. It was one of the wildest camping experiences I’ve ever had. Luckily, I stayed warm and cosy thanks to my ARRIS Heated Jacket, a lifesaver when the weather turned fierce.
