‘Explain it truthfully’: Dutton calls for the PM to apologise amid DV rally saga

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has called for Anthony Albanese to apologise after the Prime Minister was labelled a liar and copped heavy criticism in the wake of a rally outside Parliament House in Canberra on Sunday.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been accused of abusing his power by speaking at the National Rally Against Violence in Canberra on Sunday despite never asking to, the rally organiser Sarah Williams said.

“He’s been called a liar, and his word questioned – I think that needs to be addressed. I think the PM needs to apologise if he has lied,” Mr Dutton said during a media conference on Tuesday.

“If the Prime Minister’s lied, he should stick his hand up (and) apologise for it.

“Say that there was a mistake that he’s made and explain it truthfully.”
