Spring Renew Challenge with an Antique Chifferobe

Welcome to the #SpringRenewChallenge! Want to start by thanking my fellow YouTubers who took part. Whether you are, like me, and had to face up to your past (shall we say misses) or if you have someone else’s less than desirable furniture makeover, you have kept it from a landfill and hopefully demonstrated its ok to try again! Also, must thank Krystal from the Krafty Creech DIY this is another #UniqueAntiqueChallenge. Krystal is an incredibly kind person that generously supports her fellow YouTubers by hosting these and behind the scenes with kind words.
Now for this project: My neighbor rolled it to the curb, and it was about to rain, I couldn’t leave it out there. It was a COVID piece that I worked on while my Dad, sisters and I played Trivial Pursuit over zoom. That was when I got encouraged to start filming the projects I was doing!
So, this was a labor of love for sure. A lot has happened since then. The big flower in the front was added by my eldest who hadn’t time to finish it as they went off to college in Illinois. They were in full support of this piece being brought back to its nature wood finish. Meanwhile, my dad who was in on the discussions of me starting a YouTube channel and was always up for discussing my latest projects, has since been diagnosed with dementia. He is in hospice now. I can’t say this is the last piece I will be able to discuss with him, but it seems likely. It is a bittersweet piece but as the final results were approved by my eldest, I feel certain they will keep it in the family. It will live on.
