Aftermarket OEM Factory Fender Flares RUINED My Paint (After 1 Year) | RAM 1500 Rust Issues

My aftermarket OEM factory fender flares ruined my paint on my RAM 1500 after only one year of use. I installed them to protect my fenders from rock chips and to protect the truck from rusting from said rock chips. Little did I know that the fender flares themselves were going to cause the most rusting and body damage. I installed them myself but followed the outlined protocol and even bought the name brand 3M double sided body tape to minimize all paint damage. it seems like the front fenders got the worst damage and the rear came out almost perfect.

maybe it was a poor installation job by an idiot (myself) or perhaps the fenders flares themselves are not the best thing to minimize rust. needless to say they will not be going back on and I'm hoping to hear from one of you guys for a good solution to protect that inner fender from rock chips and debris.
