How to Brief a Vor Approach Chart - [Practical Advices From A Boeing Captain].
Today's video is about the VOR approach Chart.
We are going to dive into a VOR approach chart and analyze each point.
It is very important to have a clear structure when briefing an approach chart, especially when you are dealing with a non-precision approach.
The structure that I built up during the last 10+ years flying the B737 is very simple at it will make sure you won't leave any important information behind.
When briefing the approach chart I go left to right, top to bottom.
In the video we are going to talk about the importance of the FAF, we also going to define the difference between a Minimum Descent Altitude and the Decision Altitude, we will see how to read and understand the lateral and the vertical profile of the VOR approach.
Briefing an Approach chart is easy once you know the meaning of each field and have a good briefing structure.
It is important you identify your FAF (Final Approach Fix) on your chart, also, make sure the missed approach procedure is clear to you.
Remember to perform the Altitude checks when performing a Non-Precision approach since you don't have vertical guidance like the ILS has.
