Tropical Storm Hanna is strengthening near the Texas coast and now has maximum winds of 50mph. The storm is expected to intensify further and could get near hurricane strength before moving inland as a strong tropical storm in the next 48 hours.

The main threat from Hanna will be regionally heavy rainfall totaling 4-8 inches, with local maximums up to 12 inches. This has raised the risk level for flooding and flash flooding from the system as the prior expectations were significantly lower than this.
