Each melody has its own characteristic sound based upon a simple foundation. Expanding on that simple melodic foundation is a staple soloing technique for building more beautiful directions with any melody line.

There are a number of tweaks possible from a foundation melody that all work together to reorganize the notes and the phrasing, thus causing the melody to sound more beautiful than ever.

Noodling across random guitar licks sounds alright, but that approach gets boring, and it gets in the way of you making strides to a more melodic direction. In this lesson, I’m going to show you how to start making your solos sound a lot more melodic using a “simple scale” approach.

The exercises in this lesson will coach you through how to change the way that you approach all of the scale melodies you play right now, and you’ll learn how to start making your solos sound more beautiful.

Regardless of your soloing approach, you do not have to give up any licks or lines that you’ve become used to. The plan is to help you understand the backing (rhythm guitar) progression better and use it to build a melodic foundation. With that established, the melody can be enhanced further.
