Guitar players want to know the notes on the neck and they want to memorize them quickly, but why is it so difficult to do? Fact is, it doesn’t have to be difficult. There is a logical way to study the neck using some tricks for memorizing note names, and in this lesson I will showcase exactly what you need to do.

If you want to reach impressive levels of note recognition everywhere on the neck (plus build the knowledge of how the notes move around), then the tips in this lesson will do that. If these tips are repeated every single day - for about 2 months - anyone can learn all of the notes on the guitar neck.

The game plan is to perform a group of seven notes in one location, (do not exceed 7 notes across 4 strings). When playing your note selection do it for a minute, then re-locate the notes to another position and continue.

Keep doing this for a total of 4 minutes always saying the notes aloud. It may seem simple, but if you’re unaware of note names this is a demanding exercise. For best results perform this workout daily for around 60 days.
