MATERIALS:
Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 flat bristle (large), #9 round (medium), #5 round (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, burnt umber (brown), cobalt blue, fire red, deep yellow, green oxide
Other: #2 pencil, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint 1st layer of sky with brown, blue and white
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint ground with black, blue and white
3. pencil - Draw outline of elf
4. pencil - Draw outline of gnome
5. #9 round brush - Paint 1st layer of elf clothes with red, green, black, blue and white
6. pencil - Draw outline of candy cane
7. #9 round brush - Paint 1st layer of gnome clothes with black, red, brown and white
8. #9 round brush - Paint 1st layer of candy cane with white
9. #9 round brush - Paint 1st layer of gnome beard and hair with black, brown and white
10. #9 round brush - Paint the skin with red, yellow, brown and white
11. #9 round brush - Paint 2nd layer of elf clothes with green, yellow, red, white and black
12. #9 round brush - Finish gnome clothes with black, red, white and yellow
13. #5 round brush - Paint outline and shadows on elf face with brown and black
14. #5 round brush - Finish gnome face with black, white and skin color
15. #5 round brush - Paint candy cane stripes with red
16. #5 round brush - Finish elf face with black, brown, blue, red, skin color and white
17. #5 round brush - Paint the shirt bells with brown, yellow, white and black
18. #5 round brush - Paint shadows and highlights on candy cane with brown and white
19. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Finish the ground with white, gray, blue and black
20. #9 round brush - Finish the gnome beard and hair with black, brown, white and gray
21. #5 round brush - Sign with black
