Pacing the Union Pacific Big Boy #4018 Dallas, Texas and cab ride

Union Pacific Big Boy #4018, one of the largest and most powerful steam locomotives ever built, is once again moving after sitting in a park in decades. The city of Dallas, Texas more less forced the museum out of the park so the park could expand. The museum found a new location in Frisco, Texas which is about 55 miles away.

The museum lubed the locomotive and made some short runs back and forth to make sure everything was working normally so there would no problems during the big move. By the time I got there they claimed the locomotive had already traveled up and down the short track a distance of over 40 miles. Unfortunately the day of the big move to Frisco things got screwed up and the locomotive never went anywhere. Plans were made to move it a week later and things got screwed up again and it never went anywhere. Finally many weeks later it finally made it to Frisco.

Sorry for the shaky video but I was filming this one handed while riding a bicycle, in 93 degree, high humidity, Texas heat in July. This was filmed over two days. The first videos are from June 15th, 2013. The second videos with the BNSF locomotives is from June 21st, 2013.
