Big Boy Returns to Steamtown

On Wednesday May 5, 2021 Steamtown National Historic Site returned the Union Pacific "Big Boy" No. 4012 to static exhibition following an extended cosmetic restoration. The return was exclusive to employees and volunteers at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA. The locomotive was removed from static display in 2019 in order to replace rusted parts, remediate hazardous materials from its original construction and receive a much needed paint job. 4012 is the only "Big Boy" located in the US Eastern Time Zone.
