Installing Bigger Fuel Injectors (RX8 Yellows / 1.8VVT NBFL) | Supercharging the MX5 / Miata Ep 21

RX8 Yellow Injectors are a very common upgrade for any forced induction MX5. They can deliver approximately 70% more fuel than the standard purple injectors, and are a direct plug and play swap for the stock units. They can also be picked up fairly cheaply which makes them perfect for a budget build like mine - providing you can find a genuine Denso set and avoid all the cheap fakes that have flooded the market. The increased amount of fuel these injectors can deliver will give me plenty of headroom for when I supercharge the car, meaning even in high load/high rpm situations, the fuel system will be able to deliver enough fuel to keep the engine happy. These RX8 Injectors will fit all NA & NB MX5s - 1.6 & 1.8 variants, however, it is slightly more complicated on the 1.8 engines (like mine) due to the design of the intake manifold. Once the injectors are installed I need to go into the ME221 ECU software (MEITE) and update the primary injector size. The ECU in this video is a Gen 1 ME221 (black board), but this procedure will also apply to the Gen 1 ME442, AND the Gen 2 ME221 & ME442 (white board).
