Ulysses Walk - a better way

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) plans to join the Ulysses Beach Walk, which mainly follows the beach just behind the dune at Mission Beach, at one of the small remaining habitat corridors connecting rare and endangered rainforests. Three options were suggested. The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has chosen the highest impact , most expensive option without consideration of the feedback from several community groups including the community environment group.
The option chosen will cross the creek at the widest most erosion prone location, dissecting one of the last remaining small natural habitat corridors. If this option goes ahead it will introduce a high level of 'traffic' including dogs to a currently 'quiet' wilderness area where natural processes continue relatively uninterrupted.
The community consultation will only present one option instead of the original three.
Currently the Public Park area alongside the creek is being maintained as private by campers, intimidating public use and encroaching beyond site boundaries into the wilderness area where kitchen and other effluent flows directly into the creek and weeds are allowed to proliferate.

This video offers an alternative route realigning camping sites away from the creek bank where the Ulysses Walk is connected with a choice of either a short section along the beach or through a parkland and past the visitor centre informing visitors and locals of the high environmental value of the corridor.
