Hiking Switzerland from Regensberg, Zurich to Baden, Aargau on the Jura Ridgeway [Part 1 of 4]

In this four-part video series I hike from Regensberg in the canton of Zurich via the Lägern to Baden in the canton of Aargau. This route is the first stage of the Jura ridgeway, which lasts for about 310 kilometers from Dielsdorf, Zurich to Lake Geneva.

This video is the first part. Here I walk from Regensberg to the restaurant Lägernhochwacht in Hochwacht. Starting point of my hike is the lovely little town of Regensberg. The medieval country town and former center of the western Zurich Unterland (Zurich lowlands) lies on a rock spur of the Lägern high above Dielsdorf.

After I leave the village of Regensberg I first walk for a few meters through a narrow forest path. Then the hike continues on a wide forest path until I reach the radar station Lägern Hochwacht after about 45 minutes. Passing the radar station Lägern, I reach my first stage destination a few minutes later - the restaurant Hochwacht and the viewing platform Hochwacht.

The viewing platform offers a 180° panoramic view from the Zurich Oberland (Zurich Highlands) over the Uetliberg to the Bernese Alps.

The mountain restaurant Lägern Hochwacht is closed on this day. It is always open from Wednesday to Sunday.
