Quake II 64 (PC) - Nightmare 100%
Quake II 64 does not have crouching.
Nightdive has brought us a Quake II "remaster", which includes pointless visual "enhancements", changes to enemy AI to make them more annoying, restored cut content and two new campaigns - one of them is a port of Quake II for Nintendo 64.
19 new levels (except for 3 which are repurposed maps from base campaign and The Reckoning) full of Quake II goodness. Even though they look more basic and are shorter than vanilla Q2 levels, they are still very well designed, a lot of effort was put into making this campaign feel as close to the original as possible while still having that N64 twist. There's no Sonic Mayhem here, only Aubrey Hodges of Doom 64 fame, who's music you won't even hear during the gameplay because it's so quiet. Nightdive wanted this port to feel authentic, so crouching is disabled (the game even tells you after you try it) and there's a slight delay between jumps, preventing consecutive strafejumping. Powerups also activate instantly like in Quake 1 (which is how it should be in the first place). Restricted movement together with new enemy AI introduced in this remaster create a very awkward experience, you might think that a campaign made for N64 controller would be very easy, but you would be wrong.
I played this with the first version of the Unmaster mod, which reverts some changes made by Nightdive in the re-release. I've disabled barrel explosion delay, removed compass, added recoil to Machinegun and nerfed Berserker's new unavoidable attack to make it avoidable (seriously Nightdive, fix this, no attack should be unavoidable, that's bad design). I decided to leave the Railgun at it's nerfed damage for extra challenge.
