Yes We Do Like Transistor Amps #2: Quilter & BluGuitar Wet-Dry With A HRD – That Pedal Show

Life too short for long YouTube videos? Please see the ’Interesting bits and go-to sections’ timings below.

Dan and I are both dyed-in-the-wool valve amp fans – unashamedly and unapologetically so, based on decades of their use and abuse. In this show however, we follow last week’s realisation (for us at least) that transistor amps really have moved forwards in recent years. There comes a time in every tube-amp-fan’s life when they need to listen to the best of the latest solid-state amps to hear what’s changed… Watch last week’s episode here: https://youtu.be/_QZOeXHB8AQ

Here we move along a little bit, pairing a Quilter 101 Reverb and BluGuitar Amp 1 with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and head deeper into wet-dry territory on the end of Mick’s pedalboard. No real agenda, no science, just the same question we have all the time: can these sounds offer the requisite inspiration to really play?

The signal routing of Mick’s board is as follows, top to bottom (specific pedal links further below)

Wah wah (outside of G2)
G2 loop 1: Analog Man Sun Face Fuzz
G2 loop 2: Fulltone Octafuzz
G2 loop 3: J Rockett The Dude OD
G2 loop 4: Analog Man / Maxon OD9
G2 loop 5: Klon Centaur
G2 loop 6: Wet/dry split to GigRig Humdinger. Main out to DRY amp. Buffered out to…
Also G2 loop 6: Catalinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe Delay
G2 loop 7: Boss DC-2w Dimension C
G2 loop 8: Analog Man ARDX 20 delay
G2 loop 9: Supro Tremolo
G2 loop 10: Neo Instruments Mini Vent II (rotary speaker)
G2 output 1 to wet amp

Loop 6 stays on all the time so the dry amp is always on. The Belle Epoch Deluxe is also always on to cure a phase reversal problem when you switch it on and off. The delay level is controlled with the Dunlop Mini Volume X pedal to the left of G2.

The little green box with the LCD readout is the Amazeo controller for the Analog Man delay. It uses control voltages to create modulation and offer tap tempo.

Enjoy!
