Machining hydraulic cylinder barrel for CAT 651 Tractor Scraper | Part 1

This video is Part 1 of machining a new hydraulic cylinder barrel for a CAT 651 Scraper tractor bowl lift cylinder. In this part we started with the old hydraulic cylinder barrel and removed the cap end, flange head and trunnion mount ready for use on the new cylinder barrel. We used the horizontal bandsaw to cut off the barrel cap end before machining the cap for weld prep. The old barrel was setup in our TM-26120G lathe for machining out welds to remove the head flange and trunnion mount. The head flange and and trunnion mount were then heated with an acetylene torch to expand and remove from the old barrel. This didn't quite go to plan with the trunnion mount grabbing and we had to cut the steel barrel with a gas axe!
