How to use a Jaeger-LeCoultre E855 Memovox K825 bumper automatic - wind, set time & alarm

How to use and operate the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox E855 bumper automatic cal K825 (and 815). Winding, setting time, setting the alarm, and using the semi-quick-set date.

Using the JLC cal K825 is easy; it has two crowns; one at 2h for the alarm, and one at 4h for the time. Both time and alarm have their own mainspring. The K825 is a hammer automatic, meaning the watch will wind itself by the movement of your wrist. Only the time gets automatically wound, the alarm still needs to be manually wound.

The alarm is easy; manually wind in clockwise motion until fully wound, then set the alarm disc in counter-clockwise motion until the arrow is at the desired alarm time. Press the alarm crown back in to activate the alarm. When the hour hand meets the alarm arrow, the alarm will ring (if activated). To stop the alarm, pull out the alarm crown.

For the time, it winds automatically, but you can also wind it manually (recommended if power reserve is low, or first time you put on the watch after it has been laying still). To set the time, pull out the crown, and set the hands in the desired position. The date will flip over at midnight. To semi-quick-set the date, just wind it backwards to 9h, then forwards to midnight again until it flips, then backwards to 9h again, etc etc.

The watch in this video is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox E855 bumper automatic from 1965. It's a very desirable and gorgeous beauty in great original condition. The original white silvered dial is in excellent condition, with light patina. It pops gorgeously, so beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice, it looks 1000000x nicer in the flesh than in the pics. The steel case is in great condition, it has been refinished in the past. Both crown are replacements. The watch is a ref E855, powered by a bumper automatic cal K825 from 1965. It has last been serviced in 2016, it works perfectly and keeps great time. The alarm works perfectly as well, very strong ring. It has very nice wrist presence, measuring 37,5mm diameter without crowns, and 45,5mm from lug to lug. It comes on a new Molequin strap, worth $100 on its own.
