Rauisuchians: Triassic Apex Predators
'Rauisuchians' were the dominant apex predators of the Late Triassic and were among the largest terrestrial Pseudosuchains to ever exist. With large skulls, blade-like teeth and semi-erect limbs, these animals could potentially have measured up to 10m or 33 feet long and hunted herbivorous Dicynodonts and Sauropodomorph dinosaurs. Although once considered to be a natural grouping, more recent studies have suggested that Rauisuchians form a grade at the base of Loricata. The most famous genus, Postosuchus, was featured in Walking with Dinosaurs where it was shown in a now outdated quadrupedal stance.
