USS Selfridge - When You Lose Half Your Ship

In today's Saturday Extra, we continue two trends. American destroyers, and American warships losing their bows.

With USS Selfridge, one of the most extreme examples. This was a destroyer that had everything ahead of her bridge blown away. Yet, through heroic efforts, the crew kept the destroyer afloat.

And Selfridge would actually return to service, with a completely reworked design. A success story, if there ever was one.
