ANKLE COMPLEX BIOMECHANICS ( Introduction,Functional segments & Motions)#Ankle Series 1
Simplified detailed discussion on ANKLE AND FOOT COMPLEX BIOMECHANICS. Ankle and Foot complex is homologous to wrist and hand complex. The ANKLE complex serves a function of providing stability and mobility at the same time, which makes biomechanics of ankle complex. The motions at ankle complex is quite different from other joints because the axis of motions at ankle is an oblique one Thus motions such as DORSIFLEXION, PLANTAR FLEXION,INVERSION, EVERSION, ABDCUTION AND ADDUCTION is quite different from other joints in body.Check out video to understand the movements and its axis and planes.
Further additional movements such as PRONATION and SUPINATION, VALGUS & VARUS are also evident in ankle complex thats also discussed in the video. In addition to it the functional classification of foot as FORE FOOT,HIND FOOT AND REAR FOOT is also mentioned.
