How to Make Mini Braided Challah | Chocolate & Funfetti Challah Ice Cream Cones w/ Vanilla Icing

Learn how to make these adorable challah cones using mini challah or rolls! This easy and fun style makes for a great summery treat or dessert that everyone will instantly fall in love with. The kids will LOVE making it - and eating it!

Anything goes! Make it your own and decorate however you want and even fill the mini challah with your favorite fillings like strawberry, chocolate chips, cinnamon sugar, the sky's the limit! Add your favorite toppings too, like cookie crumble, caramel, chocolate syrup, and much more!

Mini Challah Cones Instructions:

Using a small batch of challah dough, divide dough into 3 pieces. You can also grab about 1/3 portion of a standard challah dough (2lbs to 3lbs flour recipe) to set aside to do this as well, then divide that into 3 pieces.

1) Funfetti Challah Cone: knead 2 Tbs of sprinkles into dough. When fully incorporated, divide and roll dough into 3 strands. Brush strands with water and coat each strand in sprinkles, then braid.

2) Pink Challah Cone: knead 1 to 2 Tbs beet powder into dough, or a few drops of gel food coloring. When fully incorporated, divide and roll dough into 3 strands, then braid. (Optional: can fill each strand with your favorite berry filling)

3) Chocolate Challah Cone: knead 1 to 2 Tbs of cocoa powder into dough. When fully incorporated, divide and roll dough into 3 strands. Brush strands with water and coat each strand in cocoa powder, then braid. (Optional: can fill each strand with chocolate chips)

Allow mini challah to rise for 15 to 25 minutes. Bake at 350°F/180°C for 20 to 25 minutes (lightly cover challah for the last 10 minutes of baking to preserve color if challah is browning)

Vanilla Icing Drizzle Recipe:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tbs heavy cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Sift powdered sugar into a medium bowl. Pour heavy cream and whisk together until smooth in consistency. Add vanilla extract and mix.

Drizzle icing onto the cooled, but still slightly warm challah. Decorate with a waffle cone by placing one under each challah, and you've got a festive summer treat and a fun dinner centerpiece!
