15 Moments Dogs Were Mercilessly Attacked by Wild Animals

Wild dogs and dogs of all sorts are usually seen hunting other animals, but it’s not always the case. Have you ever seen an angry hippo challenge a pack of wild dogs? How crazy do you think cats can become when they’re angry at a dog? If you want to see what I mean, keep watching, because we’re getting started.

Wild Dog VS Elephant

These elephants are fending off these wild dogs to protect their calves. The wild dogs can’t do anything against the adults, but working together, they could probably take down a calf. However, not on this day, as the herd stays close together and forms a circle around the young ones. Botswana was a dream destination for a group of nature lovers. Northern Botswana is where they were camping out under canvas. A watering hole was right outside their dining area, in front of their camp. As they were finishing their breakfast, a wild dog chased an impala by the watering hole. The wild dog decided to rest at the watering hole rather than chase after the Impala.

As time went on, more and more of the pack came to join him. When a lone elephant walked up, they were all wandering around or lying down or drinking, just chilling. But the dogs didn't slink away from him because they knew they could run circles around him and not get hurt. It was a game for both the elephant and the pack, for the next six minutes as the massive animal tried to chase them away and they teased him by creeping closer and him shooting at them again. I guess, even the worst of enemies find some time to have fun, in the bush. Wild dogs are amazing hunters, but when they see a beast like this running at them, they have no other choice but to disperse.

A pack of wild dogs killed a kudu against the fence at a watering hole. Ninety minutes later they had stripped the carcass and dragged the remains away from the fence. The pack was divided, with some still eating, while others were resting with full stomachs. A solitary bull elephant wandered up to the waterhole, drank, and charged the pack. He did not want any of the dogs remotely close to the waterhole and the dogs understood the message, even though they stuck around, at a safe distance. When a large elephant encounters a pack of wild dogs on the road, he charges right at them, easily scaring them away, as the canines run in different directions, away from the elephant.

Lion Hunting Wild Dog

A large pack of African wild dogs has been terrorizing larger predators, including regularly stealing food from a nearby lion pride. A lioness stalks the pack, targeting a young wild dog pup which she knows will increase her pride's chances of survival, as she simultaneously takes her revenge. A wild dog chasing an impala ran through an area where some lions were relaxing, but the second the felines spotted the canine, they attacked and killed it in seconds. The animal tried turning around to escape, but the lions were too quick to react. Lions and African wild dogs are at the top of the food chain. There are approximately 200 wild dogs left in Kruger National Park and the surrounding area.

It's critical to keep them secure while also alerting others of their presence. Although such instances are unavoidable as nature evolves, visitors are unable to interfere unless the animal is being hurt by humans due to severe rules. As a result, everyone is taken aback when this lion grabs a young pup, and understandably so. Why didn't the lion simply pursue one of the adults? It's a harsh world, but that's the way it is. Even though they are Africa’s most successful predators, one-on-one, wild dogs are no match for lions. A lioness can be seen holding a dead wild dog in her mouth, when a male lion arrives and congratulates her on the kill.

The two felines decide to go for a drink of water at the nearest waterhole. When this lion spots a group of wild dogs out in the open, he hunts them down. The dogs scatter and move in different directions right away, but the lion is exceptionally quick and catches up to one of the dogs and attacks him. A lioness sneaks up on a few wild dogs in the brush and manages to snatch one of them, but the dogs do not abandon their friend. They try to distract the big cat, and it works, as she drops the dog for one second without thinking he could escape, and that’s exactly what he does when he runs for daylight. I like how wild dogs help each other this way.
