Across the Alps on a Touring Bicycle - Day 3 Highlights (Fuessen to Lake Garda)

Highlights from the 3rd day on the Fuessen to Lake Garda bike tour across the Alps! This day requires a lot of climbing, but the endorphin rush at the top, which is the high point of the entire route, is real! The last of two major passes on this route, this is a day full of climbing. Some choose to bypass almost the entire climb by using a shuttle, and most bypass only the steepest climb, which involves cycling on roads with some traffic, and a lot of switchbacks. Regardless how you choose to do this day, the last climb and arrival at the top will take your breath away (if you have any left). The views are stunning, and every second is to be cherished. Overall, with the steepest section included, this day covers 55 km (34 miles), and 1,034 m. (3,392 ft.) of elevation gain. The route is mostly on pavement.
