Loading IBC Cages with a Tractor

The days are short, the nights are long, but the tractor cab is warm. Today I'm thankful for spending some extra cash on the tractor cab as it has allowed me to work comfortably out here in the wet weather as I play catch up on some fall chores that are getting snowed in very quickly. Today I try and wrap up the wood piles I've got near the shop so that I can make room for new logs that I'll be dragging into this same spot very shortly as I gather wood from the bush. Despite not having a third function valve on my Kioti, the rear remotes hooked to the front grapple seems to work just fine as I make progress slowly be surely. If you've not seen these IBC cages before, do yourself a favour and look into them as they are a great way to transport firewood if you can get them for a reasonable cost. Believe it or not, I've got 25 of these floating around my place and they are always full. One feature that I love about the front-end loader on this DK40 is the float feature. I set the level of the the root rake so that the teeth are slightly pointed upwards and then I use the float feature as I drive the tractor forward. This keeps the root rake on the ground and allows me to scoop under the wood without digging into the soil which isn't quite frozen yet. Well folks, if only I was able to work as efficiently as I could talk I would be done this job by now, better get back to it...here we go!
