Looking Back at Teen Extracted From His Cell - The Extended Prison Interview

In this video from our archive, we look back at the day a teen prisoner was extracted from his cell after refusing to give guards a broom he had inside his cell. Correctional officers first try to talk to the teen and convince him to give back the broom, but the teen refuses. Officers then tell our cameras they fear the broom could be used as a weapon and discuss what options there are to diffuse the situation. After extensive conversations with the teen through his cell door, the prison calls for an extraction team to be assembled to physically remove the teen from his cell.

This video features the full extraction process, along with an extended interview with the teen who discusses how he felt the day of the extraction, and what life is like growing up behind bars.

UPDATE: Quintin was eventually released from juvenile prison but in 2012 was sentenced to 2 years in adult prison for mischief, battery, and drug possession. He was released in 2014. In 2016 he received a 13 year sentence for burglary. In 2017 he filed a. legal complaint against the prison statin he was assaulted by several officers in retaliation for filing a lawsuit. His projected release date is 2028.
