Avinuo Kire presents fantasy and Naga folklore in her book Where the Cobbled Path Leads which centres around a child’s grief upon losing her mother. In the magical world of spirits, both friendly as well as adversarial, eleven-year-old Vime discovers coping mechanisms for sorrow and finds solace in an alternate realm. Exploring Nagaland’s picturesque landscape, Kire’s novel carries the power of oral narratives and the sophistication of a complex plot that uncovers social iniquities. In conversation with author Prajwal Parajuly.

Avinuo Kire :- is a writer and teacher from Kohima, Nagaland. She has authored two short story collections, The Last Light of Glory Days and The Power to Forgive. She also writes poetry and has co-authored an anthology of oral narratives from her home state. Her latest book is a novel, Where the Cobbled Path Leads.

Prajwal Parajuly :- is the author of The Gurkha’s Daughter: Stories and Land Where I Flee. His works have been shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Mogford Prize in the UK, the Emile Guimet Prize and the First Novel Prize in France, and longlisted for the Story Prize in the US. He lives in Paris and teaches at Sciences Po.
