Katie Hickman is a novelist and historian, and the author of nine books, including the bestselling Daughters of Britannia and Courtesans. Her trilogy of historical novels, The Aviary Gate, The Pindar Diamond and The House at Bishopsgate, have been translated into 19 languages. Her most recent book, She-Merchants, Buccaneers and Gentlewomen: British Women in India 1600-1900, is the product of her lifelong interest in India and in women's history.

Howard Jacobson has written 16 novels and six works of nonfiction. He won the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Writing in 2000 for The Mighty Walzer and again in 2013 for Zoo Time. In 2010, he won the Man Booker Prize for The Finkler Question and was also shortlisted for the prize in 2014 for J. His latest novel, Live a Little, has been described by the Guardian as ‘wonderful’ and by The Sunday Times as ‘joyous’.

Elizabeth Gilbert is the number one bestselling author of Eat Pray Love, which has sold over 15 million copies worldwide and been translated into over 46 languages, and several other international bestselling books of fiction and non-fiction. Her story collection Pilgrims was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway award while The Last American Man was a finalist for both the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her follow-up memoir to Eat Pray Love, Committed, became an instant number one New York Times bestseller. She has published two novels, Stern Men and The Signature of All Things, which was longlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and shortlisted for the Wellcome Book Prize.

Peter Hessler has been a staff writer at The New Yorker for the past 20 years, where he has focused mostly on China and Egypt. He has been awarded a MacArthur fellowship, a National Magazine Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award. His fifth book, The Buried, was published last year.

Suketu Mehta is the author of Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found, which won the Kiriyama Prize and the Hutch Crossword Award, and was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize, the Lettre Ulysses Prize, the BBC4 Samuel Johnson Prize and the Guardian First Book Award. He has won the Whiting Writers’ Award, the O. Henry Prize and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for his fiction. Mehta’s work has been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Granta, Harper’s Magazine, TIME and Newsweek, and has been featured on NPR’s ‘Fresh Air’ and ‘All Things Considered.’ Mehta is an Associate Professor of Journalism at New York University. His latest book is This Land is Our Land. He is also working on a non-fiction book about immigrants in contemporary New York, for which he was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship.

William Dalrymple is the bestselling author of In Xanadu, City of Djinns, From the Holy Mountain, Age of Kali, White Mughals, The Last Mughal, Nine Lives, Return of a King and Kohinoor. He has won many awards, including the Wolfson Prize for History, the Hemingway, the Kapuscinski, the Thomas Cook, the Duff Cooper Memorial Prize, and has, prior to the shortlisting of Return of a King, been longlisted four times for the Samuel Johnson /Baillie Gifford Prize. He has also been awarded the prestigious President's Medal by the British Academy. His new books are The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company and Forgotten Masters: Indian Painting for the East India Company. Dalrymple is one of the founders and a co-director of the Jaipur Literature Festival.

Described as the 'greatest literary show on Earth', the Jaipur Literature Festival is a sumptuous feast of ideas.

Festival Co Directors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, alongside Producer Sanjoy K Roy and Teamwork Arts, create a platform for an array of speakers to debate, discuss and present their ideas in the annual five-day programme set against the backdrop of Rajasthan's stunning cultural heritage and the Diggi Palace in the state capital Jaipur.

The Jaipur Literature Festival is a flagship event of Teamwork Arts, which produces over 33 highly acclaimed performing arts, visual arts and literary festivals across more than 40 cities globally.
