Model A Pickup Christmas Tree Delivery – 4k 60fps Ultra HD Video
Diane and I wanted to give back one of the small artificial Christmas trees that Mr. Dick White had left in the house that we had purchased from him two years earlier. After his wife, Lily had passed from Leukemia, Mr. White decided to sell his house and move into a nearby independent living facility in Sequim. It seemed the right time for us to reach out to Mr. White to show him how much we enjoy living in his former home, and that we recognize the sad passing of his wife, Lily, especially during the Holiday season. Diane and I even named our kitten, Lily, in honor of his wife! And now being the new owner of my Dad's 1931 Ford Model A pickup, what better way than to deliver the Christmas tree in the Model A and take Mr. White for a ride!
So, that's the story of this video. But this video also represents the latest iPhone 11 Pro Max technology – 4k 60fps ultra HD video, which is both amazing in quality, but problematic in editing. Bottom line is that Adobe has not yet caught up with this new technology for post-production. Editing 4k 60fps HEVC H.265 Video in Adobe Premiere CC does not work! The clips must first be converted to the H.264 video codec. I edited and rendered this video multiple times over several days and found that for every original clip where I had edits (cut out parts of the footage), the video would either repeat from the beginning at the cut point and/or look fuzzy and pixelated. In order to fix this issue, I had to first convert the original iPhone MOV videos to H.264 MP4 HD format first, import the converted videos into the timeline in Premiere Pro, and repeat the in and out edit points. Frustrating and time-consuming that is was, the result is awesome! That said, until Adobe fixes this compatibility issue, I am abandoning recording 4k 60fps video with my new iPhone Pro Max, unless I really need to capture fast moving subjects that would benefit from the 60fps frame rate with smoother real-time and slow-motion video.
