Squid Game is a world-wide sensation now, but it’s crazy to think that the script had been done for about ten years before even being made, especially considering how much it’s changed so many of the lives of the people involved! Some of the actors went from relatively unknown to global superstars while the eldest actor in the series is finding himself in need of a manager for the first time!
Lee Jung-Jae didn’t even have an Instagram account when the series premiered and now that he’s on it, his follower count is already in the millions. The fact that he’s such a big name in South Korea and has received such positive global exposure, he’s even open to the idea of doing some work in Hollywood! Fan favorite Jung Ho-Yeon was already a successful model, but her career and popularity have skyrocketed since the show took Netflix by storm and she has partnerships with multiple major brands and millions of followers on Instagram.
One actor’s life changed in multiple ways - the actor who plays Sang-Woo had a baby just an hour before the show came out and he’s already busy juggling multiple projects - including a Korean adaptation of Money Heist for Netflix! Oh Young Soo has been acting for years, but now he has been inundated with endless phone calls, leaving him totally overwhelmed! Luckily his daughter has been able to take the reins and help out with managing her father’s rising popularity.
No matter where they started, the world knows the names of these actors and we’re so glad to see such talented artists get the recognition they deserve!
