Rod Keogh runs EP Cruises with his wife Simone and two young daughters, Mya and Indi. Today we’re going to talk to Rod about Southern Right Whales at the Head of Bight, where we’ll be heading later this year. Rod says “our very first interaction with these gentle animals was utterly breath-taking” Finding themselves wanting to know more about the animals, Rod and Simone opened their boat to the public in 2010. “We identified so many individuals”, Rod says “we have been fortunate enough to get to know them, welcome their calves, watch them grow and develop their own personalities”. Simone tells us, that while you can be on a boat watching one whale with 35 people off the east coast, they often have 35 whales to one boat with a few people. Fowler’s Bay is near Ceduna, between Eyre Peninsula and the Nullabor and right whales visit seasonally.
