Mother of British academic among two Israeli hostages freed by Hamas

Two more hostages have been freed by Hamas’s military wing, from more than 200 seized in its attacks earlier this month.

Yocheved Lifschitz and Nurit Cooper had been released because of “compelling humanitarian reasons” after mediation by Egypt and Qatar, the group said.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Monday night that the women had been handed over to the Israel Defense Forces and were receiving medical care before being reunited with family.
