What is rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that usually affects the face. Its often mistaken for acne, eczema, or an even allergic skin reaction. It causes redness and visible blood vessels in your face and sometimes produces small red, pus filled bumps that flare up for weeks to months, disappear and reappear when you least expect.

Rosacea triggers
Hot drinks and spicy foods, red wine, alcoholic beverages, temperature extremes, like going from really cold to really hot or vice versa, saunas, sunlight or wind, emotions, and even various cosmetic products. Types of rosacea
1.) Ocular rosacea, which includes eye redness and irritation and swollen eyelids.

Your doctor can have you on Brimonidine or (Mirvaso) and oxymetazoline or (Rhofade) reduce redness by constricting blood vessels and you can see results within 12 hours after use. The effect on the blood vessels is temporary, so the medication needs to be applied regularly to maintain improvements.
Other topical products have less effect on the redness but help control the pimples of mild rosacea. These include azelaic acid and metronidazole and take up to 6 weeks to show improvement.
Your doctor may also prescribe antibiotic such as doxycycline or Oracea for moderate to severe rosacea with bumps and pimples. If if your rosacea is severe and nothing else helps, your doctor may suggest isotretinoin which is a powerful oral acne drug that also helps clear up acne like lesions of rosacea or can recommend Laser therapy and other light-based therapies to help reduce all that redness.

How to prevent rosacea from getting worse
1.) Identify and avoid rosacea triggers. Pay attention to what tends to flare you up and do your best to avoid them. For some that may be avoiding certain foods, hot drinks, alcohol, and spicy foods. Eating foods that contain the compound cinnamaldehyde, such as cinnamon, chocolate, tomatoes, and citrus may be culprits as well. So pay attention to food triggers.
2.) Protect your face. You want to make sure that if your exposed to the sun for long periods of time, that you Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen — which blocks both UVA and UVB rays — with an SPF of 30 or higher. If you live in a colder climate: try to cover your face in cold weather as this is known to trigger rosacea as well.
3.) Treat your skin gently. Don't rub or touch your face excessively. Use a nonsoap cleanser and moisturize frequently. Avoid products that contain alcohol or other skin irritants or comedogenic products that block the oil and sweat gland openings.
4.) Clean your eyelids at least once a day if you have blepharitis, otherwise known as an eyelid inflammation occurring at the base of the eyelid.
5.) Makeup. Some makeup products and techniques may help reduce the appearance of skin redness.

When to let your doctor know for rosacea
1.) If you have just developed symptoms
